Student Exchange Program Overview
By admin • Nov 6th, 2009 • Category: About Exchange ProgramDo you have any idea what an exchange student means? Perhaps you were one of those high school students or college students who would want to spend the rest of your school year abroad, yet you do not have any further idea what an exchange student means. Basically, an exchange student means students in high school or college who would spend their studies in a year or more abroad living with a host family. They will be living in a local family as well as attend local schools. This scenario is commonly seen in a student exchange programs. The host family would be temporarily the parents of the international exchange students. Therefore, the students would act like one of the children of the family while the host family as well would also act like the true parents of the exchange program participant.
Most of the participants of the said program came from high school exchange programs. They will be living in their host family for up to one year. They will be living also in more than one family or in a homestay during his/her time of stay here. Since they will be living with their host family, the student participant’s role is to maintain a good grade and study harder base on the rules and regulations of their host family. And it would be the responsibility of the host family to watch over the student participants and guide them on their everyday life most especially in their studies.
The student exchange program or also called cultural exchange programs since they will be living with people having different culture from theirs is organized by for profit companies, schools or sister cities and charitable organizations like the Rotary International. If you are one of the student participants you should have to obtain medical insurance, enough budgets and more. This is for your own necessity while you were abroad with your host family and away from your real family.
