Exchange Programs Abroad

So they tell me why they went for exchange program. The reasons vary from one person to another. Some exchange students would like to start learning a language. Some would like to experience something new on a different perspective on the same work they are doing on their home country. Exchange program really has so many tangible and intangible results and I appreciated it.

Yet, for personal and practical reason I went for an exchange program not to start learning but to polish what I had already learned. I am English and thus wanted to learn another language. I chose to study the most romantic language in the world- the Spanish language. I learn the basics and yet I feel inadequate. I now read Spanish journals and books and still I feel there is more that I have to learn. That prod me to go to the real Mccoy.

As part of my college exchange program I went to polish my skill on the Spanish language. So I have to live, speak and act like a real Spanish. Well the experience actually was like a teaching exchange program for I was teaching several Spanish friends the English tongue. Though, they don’t need to teach me the basics of their language it is still an exchange between these fellow friends. They are teaching me to join them on their culture. And I even eat like them- 6 meals a day!?!

Not to mention Spain major tourist destination. Whoa! I have the chance to practice my Spanish and feel like one while queuing for an entrance ticket for Familia Sagrada in Barcelona. Plaza Mayor in Madrid and the beaches in Costa Blanca.

Even a simple trip to a tapa bar is already meaningful especially I got to chance to show off my Spanish language skills which actually made the listener laugh. I just really do not know what. Well, yeah I got to admit that the rapid sweet intonation was really absent with my version of their language. But hey I corrected that within 5 months of stay in Spain.
