Exchange Program has many kinds or faces. A certain name for an exchange program depends on who benefits, who will travel, and what you get. Let us see some of the many kinds of exchange programs all over the world.

  • Cultural Exchange Program. This kind of Exchange Program opens gateway for different culture to understand each other. In most exchange program there is an element of cultural exchange. The difference when you engage in mainly a Cultural Exchange is you are given a very thorough background of the given society you chose. Discussion and immersion are two important activities you got when you are in a cultural exchange program. Two very different cultures usually take part on this kind of exchange. The Middle East countries and the northern hemisphere countries are very active on this. Yet, European countries also engage on this type of exchange like Spain, Italy, Switzerland and Netherlands.

  • Teaching Exchange Program. One of the successful teaching exchange programs was done by the Wichita School in USA which they had invited Filipino teachers to teach on their school for 3 years of exchange program. After 3 years of the successful exchange program the teacher went back to their country. In this type of exchange program, a teacher is exposed to the educational environment and system on a certain country. Thus when the teacher goes back to their own country, she can share and apply the ideas that are useful for the teaching and learning process.

  • English Exchange Program. A kind of exchange program on which the person goes to a certain country to learn how to write or speak the English language. England and USA are favorite destination in the north. Philippines is the considered the cheapest destination in the south East Asia.

  • Volunteer Exchange Program. A very popular activity among the youth, high school and college students. Professional who also wanted to broaden their perspective and renew their spirit also engages in this kind of exchange. There are so many places to visit for this kind of exchange program depending on the kind of work you wanted.

These four popular kinds of exchange programs are available through some of the international organizations. Applications are available in the internet. Make sure though that it is legitimate by checking through the proper authorities.
