Types of Exchange Program

Basically student exchange program is a program established for students under secondary or higher education. Most of these students are appointed to live in a foreign country with a host family for them to learn new things in that particular country such likes culture and language. The reason why this program was designated as exchange because there will be an exchange of students amidst the different countries. And they will be living in the unpaid family volunteers or through the single parent volunteers. There are three different types of student exchange program and these are;

  1. The Long term student exchange program—this type of foreign exchange student program last for about six to ten months or a year. Students should have to spend their high school studies in the foreign country they chose with their host family using the student visa. The exchange students are expected to immerse themselves in the country they are living with, and after their exposure to that particular country, they are expected to use or share what they have learned in the program otherwise discuss it with their sponsors way back home.

  2. The Short term student exchange program—the short term type of exchange student program basically takes place during summer season such like the months of July to August. The participants of the said program typically do not attend school and are given short discussions about the culture and language of their host countries. They will mostly discuss in depth-discussions about the country’s views and cultural learning.

  3. The University student exchange program—while this type of exchange student program mostly happened with the sister universities exchange students through the use of any special programs and through the Ambassadorial Scholarship. Students who were involved in the said program attend in the university classes and are living in the university’s dormitories. The program expands anywhere and could last for a single semester or through the whole education.
