The exchange student programs us also a study abroad program yet this are for high school students only. Students who are into this program will spend nine to eleven months studying abroad and so on; getting into the program means you will be able to come across some aspects and such aspects includes the following;

Challenges. The exchange program is a challenge itself not only to the students but especially to parents. This is because in getting into the program, the big challenge to parents is to be able to let go and accept that in the span of nine months to eleven months their child will have to live in a new environment and with another family. Almost all parents have this anxiety of their children leaving for the exchange programs yet the agencies that helps in getting into these programs provides assurance and assistance for both parents and children for the transition to be made easier.
Adjustments. There are adjustments that students face during their exchange programs, especially being in another country and being in another culture. The best way that parents can do to their children is to support, encourage them, and talk to them about the challenges in the cultural adjustment. The host family also know can participate in making the adjustment easier by also encouraging the host child to share of his or her feelings and also get involved more in the activities of the school, community and the host family.

These two are some of the aspects that one can come across when they are in the exchange program. There are also instances that parents can visit their children with their host family, which is only at the end of the exchange program.
